November Update
November started off challenging but turned into a productive and encouraging month. The primary hurdle was learning that ACT couldn’t achieve charity status. However, after thorough research, forming a Community Interest Company (CIC) emerged as the best alternative. This path not only ensures that ACT can still apply for funding but also aligns well with its mission.
The highlight of the month was undoubtedly the Social Economy Showcase in Birmingham. Operating on a lean budget, the team attended the event in a single day. While the schedule was tight, particularly with Bill’s delayed arrival just ten minutes before their 12:00 PM speaking slot, everything fell into place. Ralph’s initial worry was palpable, but ACT’s fortunes seemed to align perfectly.
The presentation by Bill and Ralph drew a standing-room-only crowd, with the audience captivated for nearly an hour as they shared ACT’s impactful work. The enthusiasm carried over into the afternoon, with the stand bustling with activity and questions from attendees.
Are we on the right track? Judging by the overwhelmingly positive reception in Birmingham, the answer is a resounding yes!
